will the xcloud 2 headphones with the 7.1 turned on the usb sound card make better spatial sound than if i had it turned off and used windows sonic with the same headphones instead?

Other: Amp + DAC via optical and a decent set of proper headphones is the way to go.

It's virtual surround sound. No point in buying a sound card for that.

There are only a few true 7.1 headsets (The Tiamat from Razer, and the Strix 7.1 from Acer afaik). I have the Tiamat (it was a gift) and the positional audio is quite good. However, since the drivers are smaller to cram all of them in the headset, the sound quality is not as good a nice pair of stereo headphones. I'd say it's average. Personally I'm not a fan of virtual 7.1, but it's all down to preference really.
It's not the fall that kills you, it's the rapid deceleration.....
