Me personally, I would go 4k 60hz over 1080p / 144hz, but if you play a lot of fast paced competitive gaming, most people here will tell you get higher refresh rate instead of resolution.

I have tried 120 fps/ 120hz using my tv as a monitor in 1080p, and while the resolution looked a little mucky, the fps and refresh rate was underhwelming, the mouse was much smoother, and while games felt slightly smoother, i felt after about 10 minutes of playing a game, I could no longer tell the difference.

In my opinion.

Even 120 fps / 60 hz usually smoothes the game enough for me... i really dont notice s*** with 120 fps / 120hz..

I mean of course I notice it, but its really not that impressive.

4k though, wow wow wow wow wow, 4k + HDR...... WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW.

4k + HDR +QLED or OLED

woops i just came

Does your TV even do 120hz input?

imo, games are just slideshows below 80fps or so.

Viewing distance is key. I did the 4k 60hz and 1080p 120hz testing back in 2014. 1080p looked so bad comparatively but the smoothness created a new level of "detail". I preferred 4k 60 fps single player games and my 1080p 120hz monitor for RTS games like AOEII and AOEIII.

The TV 120hz is some faked BS they advertise. I have one, it isn’t “true” 120, and wouldn’t make much sense for a tv to be as there isn’t really anything other then the relatively low number of px gamers that plug into their TVs who would benefit from it.

So I went down the g sync route. Im fed up of being obsessed with getting to magic fps numbers. Everything feels relatively smooth.

Its 144hz so I can really use my gpu but I dont have to worry if games are poorly optimised and it goes beliw 60 fps (ac odyssey)

It is really very hard to distinquish the difference between 60 fps and 120 fps. For me 4K 60fps with G sync is all I need.

This a thousand times. It's probably one of those "smooth motion" interpolation things that look like s***. True 144hz looks infinitely better than that crap.
