It peaked at 30.1, but won't go above because Windows memory management is weird like that.
~18GB of firefox, ~7gb of productivity software, which was behaving weirdly because I kept running out of memory. Also crashed a couple programs I think?

Ask me anything.

firefox

Nothing more to say... heh

Although... what the hell do you do with Firefox? *I* use Firefox, and it's terrible with memory, but my work computer has 8GB RAM, I have 26 tabs open, and I'm still only using 1.7GB right now for Firefox. How the hell do you pull off using ten times that? 260 tabs?

Task Manager said FireFox was using <3gb across two instances. Resource Monitor said FireFox had 10GB on one and 7GB on the other.
Firefox lies about it's memory usage.

I would imagine it's a memory leak in a streaming site I was used, or some of the imageboards I was browsing for reference material.

The max I can get FF to use is about 6gb of system ram. Normally I use 3-4 with her. What I notice happens dark, is when you don't close out of the entire (key words) browser, it doesn't reset system usage. So let's say I have 1,000 tabs open and close down to 200, the PC still thinks I have 1,000 open. Adjust the number to anything you want and the results will be the same. It sucks man cause I have 4 monitors but I'm limited to like 75-100 tabs before I start to notice the system ram hit above 7-8gb. What a load of s*** right?

That's really s***ty man, idk how browsers do this to themselves. It's like it's recycling all the information it gets repeatedly until it f***ing breaks itself. This is what it seems like, I don't understand browsers very well in how they're actually operating.

good heavens what ever shall you do if you can only have 75-100 browser tabs open per 8 gigs of ram? this is blasphemy. we can't be having this. i'm going to write an urgent letter to president trump and get him to make web browsing great again.

Why wouldn't programs just swap to disk rather than crashing?

Well according to apple and @JKatarn (inside joke that I remember) 16gb of ram is supposed to be the future and give me unparalleled performance. I heard 16gb of ram is what they used to bend physics when they made the 9900k (Apple and intel commercials ftw!). I was told I'll never need more then 16gb of storage and now this? I spend thousands to keep my computer updated and 16gb of ram is not enough now! It is a sad day my fellow hardcore pc gamers! (maryjwhat?) This is a tragedy clearly and as a fellow gamefaqs user, you all must come to my defense and never call out it's obvious flaws how I can still continue to open dozens of more tabs. The heavens will rain indignation upon my enemies and the firefox development team due to it's uncircumcised practice of not freeing up system ram when I close an individual tab!
