I got some great recommendations from my Harvest Moon thread, and I thought I'd try another one with the Atelier series. Are there any games out there from companies besides Gust that use the Atelier formula?

Thanks!

never played an atelier game before but looking at gameplay footage the only type of games that come to mind is the star ocean and tales of series

The Atelier series is centered around performing alchemy (magical item crafting). They have the following traits:
- Robust systems for crafting items (crafting good weapons requires you to craft good metal that has the traits you want, which in turn requires other custom components and/or rare gathering).

- All Atelier games have a slice of life feel, though all have some kind of story.

- Rather than growing materials like in Stardew Valley, you have a mix of traditional turn-based RPG combat system plus some gathering in "fields" (like levels, sometimes with an over world).

- The games all feature the progression of time, with many games featuring an actual time limit with deadlines. This has been less common in the new games.

- Almost all of the main characters are female, and everyone is cute. Everyone.

Waiting for a company with actual budget to rip off the Atelier formula and use it in a better game series.

not aware of any that use alchemy specifically, but "RPG + other element that ties back into all the RPG gameplay" has a fair amount of use. Recettear is a good example, Persona games too.
