This is my current project/goal. I don't know why it's so appealing to me but I really want to build a little psuedo-gaming rig (nothing intense, I have another PC for that) using a Gamecube case.

Has anybody else done this before? Do they sell modified Gamecube cases already? Otherwise, I'm just going to buy a busted Gamecube online and spend some time with it.

I don't know how that would work out, IIRC the Gamecube used a unique motherboard split up into multiple levels to fit inside the casing. You'd probably have to use a NUC motherboard or something, and I don't know if that would even fit.

Ah crap, @JKatarn is right....

I should've looked up the dimensions of the GCN before getting this idea stuck in my head. For whatever reason I just assumed I could work a Mini-ITX into a case with some modifications.

Well that made that decision pretty easy. Dang it.

It is doable, even with a none pico or micro ITX motherboard (if you are really good at soldering). Its been done a couple of times:
