I'm hoping they drop and stay reasonable till the 1180 TI but who knows how long that's going to happen. I have been seeing a lot of used GPU's on craigslist all of a sudden so i think we are starting to see the sell off

was thinking of doing that too but honestly if the 1080TI can render in 4K with out compromising on settings I'd be happy with that.

I do VR so I need a lot of power. We are already seeing games that use a 1070 as the min requirement and a 1080 TI as recommended.

I’ve been using a 980 TI for over 2.5 years now and if it wasn’t for VR I’d probably run it for another 2 years or so.

Figure a 1180 TI should get me 4 or 5 years as I’m pretty good with 1080p though may get a 1440p 144hrz monitor in a year or two.

Edit- well maybe not 4 or 5 years if I want a 4K vr headset...

But it's almost $300 more for a $200 GPU.

I just saw this today. Seems like there's more to it than just "the bottom dropped out of the market" or "mining is too hard for GPUs nowadays".

I mean, tbh, ther's been no game really pushing anything more than a 1060 for your average gamer at 1080p. Mining slowing down, no big graphical pushes outside of maybe VR, and if you're not burning the cards for mining they last a long while. There's been no real need to upgrade or build a new machine for... several years tbh.

They're using ASIC Mining now so they don't need GPUs anymore.

I feel like that's a square enix problem though. I mean they have a super spotty track record with PC Ports, and that abomination of a port that Nier Automata is that they legit said they aren't going to fix.

Good. I'd like to eventually upgrade my GPU for a sane price.
