So a bit of backstory here first:

I built my computer using honestly extremely cheap parts back in 2014. Built one with a very cheap case totaling to approx $500. That computer has worked very well but I decided to finally overhaul it. Replaced my old 7850k APU in an old, used Gigabyte motherboard with a Ryzen 5 1600 in a mATX Gigabyte Gaming 3 motherboard, my 8GB DDR3 with 16GB DDR4, upgraded my 400W PSU to 725W (a bit overkill but it was the same price as a 600W so I decided to just get it instead), added a 4TB HDD, and upgraded to a EVGA GTX 1080 Hybrid.

That last part has become my problem. Everything works just fine and all, but the bulky fan that is attached to it won’t mount anywhere in my case, it’s way too small for the GPU. I really don’t want to return it, so I’m just going to get a new case that can house everything comfortably.

Does anyone who has something similar to my setup have any case recommendations? I’d prefer one to be on the cheaper side of the spectrum, but tbh I wouldn’t know which case would fit everything fairly well while giving good air flow.
Forgive me for I am a noob. I know not what I do.

I can't imagine what piece of s*** case you wound up with. Literally any midtower case can fit those underwhelming components.

I would recommend the HAF (High Air Flow) Cases, but it depends on your style. I like rugged militaristic looks with ridges and "armor plating" styles. Some people like minamilism where their case is the most boring looking box you could ever imagine.

I love the HAF X, but it's a full tower and pretty expensive, so it may not be the best pick for you depending on your space allotments and how often you want to lug around a 60 pound computer.

You might be better off with something like the HAF 932, or one of the Corsair cases etc.

Honestly, I would say never go below a Mid size tower, and Full Size are way better if you have the room because they are so much easier to work in and have way more space.

You can just use PC part picker to sort by the cheapest full size towers if you only want as cheap as possible

Came here to post this as well. The HAF cases are very nice to work in, and roomy. Also, steel cases so they're generally quieter. I own the original 932 and have been using it since 2010) It's been great so far, just had to replace the top fan once. (Cats jumping on top of the case broke the first one)

Edit: not sure about the x or the 922/912, but I know the 932 has optional caster wheels you can put on it as well

People are into Fractal cases for some reason. I had a Define R3, didn't like it at all. Upgraded to a NXZT full tower case. I wouldn't buy a mid-tower case again, unless I had serious space issues.
