let members be able to see games matching their listed hardware so that there are no system requirement issues

let members filter out certain categories like no indie games while searching for games

manually test each game on sale on steam so that they are aware if broken games are sold in their site
Video games are a part of my life.

Assuming the system requirements are even correct. Which they are notoriously not, a lot of times. Even then, it's still possible to be within the listed specs (assuming they are correct) but some oddity in your setup causes a conflict.

Also, what if you want to buy a game for another system? E.g., for a computer or upgrade you'll be getting soon?

And what of older games? They don't usually update the requirements, so if it says "Windows 7" but you're on 10, would it mean you're never going to be able to play the game? Because in the vast majority of cases, that won't be true.
We do what we must / because we can. / For the good of all of us. / Except the ones who are dead.

This has been suggested before by someone else. I think most people dismissed it simply because MOST of us aren't running on a toaster that needs to worry about the minimum specs.

Then presumably you turn off the "option". It wouldn't be that hard to filter games based on some specs, though it probably wouldn't be worth Valve's time to code it. It's just like there's already an option to filter games on your wishlist by how much money is in your steam wallet. "What if you wanted to buy a game that was more expensive?" You turn off the option.

Yeah, that would be the biggest problem. Valve doesn't check the specs so those developers who put that it will run on a Ti-994a as a joke wouldn't even get their game displayed. You'd have to go back and force developers to put accurate details and then get someone to verify the accuracy. Valve has lots of money but none to pay people to do stuff like that.

At this point Valve should offer discounts to people who can do menial work. The problem is, there's a group of a******s who would probably find a way to abuse it and we'd be back to square 1.

On the steam client at the top right corner, click on your username, select preferences, and then go to the middle of the page and put "indie" as a tag you'd like to see less of. They won't guarantee that you will never see indie games again, but that'll help.
