my main monitor is a fairly decent samsung monitor which i got at a good price but sadly, i never paid attention to the ports it came with... 1 hdmi and 1 vga i think it is:

since the hdmi port is used for PC, the question is how do i hook up my ps4 to the vga port?

would this work?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0768GLJQS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3VVPH5LKZMWHT&psc=1

there are actually two versions and wanna make sure i get the correct one... i'm assuming it's the one that goes HDMI(from the PS4) > VGA monitor display.

"the question is how do i hook up my ps4 to the vga port?" You don't, the PS4 ouputs over HDMI.

EDIT: Misunderstood your meaning. Get a HMDI switch.

Don't get an adapter, just grab a switch.
Every time I try to go where I really wanna be it's already where I am, 'cuz I'm already there

Adapter MIGHT work, just get an HDMi switch though. Easy to use and more likely to be useful in the future. Also, not sure of your setup, but VGA doesn't pass sound, so if you want to use the speakers in the monitor or whatever, you'd have to use an adapter for the optical out I think (just get the HDMI switch)

thx for responses.

the reason i'm looking at an adapter is because i already have like a 20ft HDMI cable i can just hook up to the monitor from the PS4 across the room with the adapter as the last step.

however, looked into it more and apparently there's pretty heavy graphical loss but supposedly the adapter i linked to converts the image properly.

the way i understand is if i get a switch i would also need another hdmi male/vga female cable, power supply for the switch(unless it's included ofc), a separate vga cable and a solution for sound. obviously correct me if i'm wrong.

the adapter linked to also has an audio out which i'm assuming solves sound if i just plug my speakers into it.

There's a graphical loss in that you're converting from a digital signal to an analog one. Best way to describe it would that that it's less..."crisp" if you will. A switch will 99% of the time come with it's own power unless it's something commercial grade. Those can be a bit funny. Anything consumer grade should have everything you need in the box. Sometimes they'll also come with an extra HDMI cable. If not, they're not exactly expensive (don't get suckered into expensive cables. As long as it's "high speed", any HDMI cable should work. Only exception would be 4k@60FPS or more, which the PS4 doesn't do anyway. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI)
