The part that matters to me is a performance comparison with and without Denuvo.

Looking forward to it.

Denuvo is supposely not really perfomance effecting, there is DRM that are, but Denuvo isn't one of them.

Supposedly the Origin preload got patched and/or encrypted because using the demo exe with the Origin client preload (not the older one that's still being distributed through other channels) no longer works.

This is going to affect sales quite a bit though, the crowd that would pirate no matter what yeah, but a lot of people got upset about the bait-and-switch Denuvo announcement, refunded and went to grab this release early as a middle-finger back SE's way.

This was still pretty interesting.

What bait and switch Denuvo announcement? I don't remember ever being under the impression it wouldn't be used. The whole "most that oppose Denuvo were tricked into believing the lies about it" factor doesn't help. The only legitimate complaint about Denuvo is the periodic online check-in set by the publisher.

They didn't put it on the Steam store page as a commitment until yesterday. Some people say that was expected given the status of the game, but FFXII had Denuvo on the Store page the moment it was listed. Also worth noting that Secret of Mana Remake listed with no mention of Denuvo, and went on to launch with no Denuvo. Final Fantasy XV was listed for almost a month with no Denuvo mention before this getting slipped in the weekend before release. A lot of people will catch it but a lot aren't, having the pre-order sitting there for so long not thinking they need to worry about Denuvo and not bothering to check back (because why should you need to do that for this?)

It was a bait and switch. Why are so many gamers this easy to beat up? At least you aren't as bad as the ones still trying to defend the Chrono Trigger port.

What else is interesting is Origin and Windows Store don't say anything about Denuvo being in FFXV, nor can I see Origin mentioning Denuvo in games that use Denuvo. Is it only Steam that needs to clearly notify people when Denuvo is being used? I haven't bought off Origin in a while and the only Store game I own is Gears of War 4, so if neither of these platforms mention what DRM is being used beyond their client, all the more reason to stick to Steam.

EDIT: Lol wow I actually just checked my library and I've never actually bought anything on Origin. I transferred Mass Effect 2 from Steam to Origin, everything else is from "On The House" or something I played for the one month I was on Origin Access.
