Haven't built a PC since my i52500k which wasn't really a build as I just grabbed a microcenter cheap combo to get by. I just did a bunch of shopping on newegg, and this is what I've come up with.

CPU
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117825&ignorebbr=1

MOBO
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157790&ignorebbr=1

RAM
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232181&ignorebbr=1

PSU

Advice/Recommendations/Changes appreciated.

I have a 6gb GTX 1060 to pair it all with, and I'm going for a Fractal Design Define C case. I am also getting a Hyper 212 for the cpu cooler. I know I don't need this much power from a PSU, but with the rebate it's a great deal if I decide on adding to the build down the line. The ram is one that always got me, should I go with 3200 or 2666? Cost difference of $20...

Overall I got $40 in rebates, and saved $15 by bundling the mobo/cpu together, and I'm looking to see if I can combo any of my other items now.

Throw these on PCPartpicker. What I did. You think that's bad I didn't build a PC since PCI-Express became the new hot thing.

Only thing I'm worried about is the ram because it's not on ASRock's compatible list, but I just think that's because it's a newer model of ram. Don't want to get stuck with a .... stick if you know what I mean.

I think that's just to get the most out of your RAM.
