I'll join the chorus of people saying Counter-Strike. In fact I still play it, and it actually still has a large playerbase, with the original game hitting at least 25k concurrent users at some point in 2017. Steam put out a list of games that accomplished this, and it was the oldest game there by far.

Well, some of the games that kind of get my childhood nostalgia bug up and going are games like Oregon Trail, Aztec...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZC02wWzIdA

... And this one tank game similar to Pac-Man, but it was 2-player, and allowed you to create your own pixel art tanks, as well as create your own maze levels and stuff. I can *never* find it no matter how creative I get with Google though, but a friend and I played it a ton.

Then there's Snake Byte...

QBASIC Gorillas...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDc3ZEKl-Wc

Wings of Fury...

And of course Zork...

A lot of these games, I wasn't exactly a "kid," but I wasn't really playing games as a kid anyway - hardly anyone had computers or anything back then, so we did most of our playing outside, or with toys. Legos were awesome. Still awesome today, but less so because of all the specialized parts you can't easily use any other way but the one way they're designed. Creativity sacrificed for commercialism. :P

GaiaOnline hell yeah man!

I got banned from there for buying gold with real money from another site. First and only time I ever did that online. I wanted that glowing pendant necklace so bad! That's all I wanted!

Newgrounds.com also.

Sadly all of my old accounts are long banned or dead =(

That archive is pretty cool but only seems to go back to 2009.

I've been on Gamefaqs since like 2002, but I don't think any posts that old are still alive. It's weird though, several times I've found my own posts I completely forgot about while google searching something. It's a really trippy feeling to see how different of a person you were X years ago.

Several times I've found HUGE write ups about characters that I've literally forgotten almost everything about. That past me apparently knew them inside and out and had cited sources for every random power level feat etc . . .
