It wouldn't change anything at all? Wouldn't quit your job, move to a quieter neighborhood, take friends out for big parties, etc.?

I wouldn't do the fancy car thing though. I had a sports car when I was younger. Not my thing. I'd get a nice SUV. Not the main thing I'd do with the money...

nope...I mean maybe I'd hire a driver to take me to stores when my wife doesn't feel up to it for whatever reason but it really wouldn't change my day to day life at all.

All that means is you've reached the point where you're checked out and punching a clock. Happens. Although you're already considering hiring a driver after saying nothing would change, maybe you just haven't given it enough thought yet. Everything would change.

I figure on the off chance I hit it big on a lottery I'd just pay off all debt, get a good financial guy, and hopefully just live within a means of whatever the interest pays. Heck with a 5 million lottery win you could just about live comfortably off of the interest anywhere.

Until someone finds out you're living comfortably off interest while they slave away and does something to rattle your cage. There's a reason welloff people give generously and/or have security and gated communities lol

Not really, I'm a disabled vet with extreme PTSD. My "job" if you will is being the best father I can to my daughter, taking care of my two dogs and being the best husband I can to my wife and playing video games when I'm not preoccupied doing any of the other stuff.

The only reason I say hire a driver is because at 3AM when I feel like having a candy bar and don't have a candy bar in the house means I have to drive my ass to the gas station to get one...and driving is something I have issues with even at 3AM when the roads are mostly dead.

I'm mostly content with my life and don't really need anything...maybe a fix my PTSD pill but no amount of money is going to create that realistically in my lifetime.

Even that part could result in a huge change, assuming your daughter is still in school, then one could argue that being the best father you can be would involve moving somewhere with higher rated schools. Or moving somewhere with better programs for your child's interests (ie. better music schools, swimming coaches, horse stables, etc). Don't get me wrong, I am not assuming you are in a bad neighborhood or anything, but there is almost always something better.

What do people do when they retire with that much money that young? I'm not a fan of traveling so that wouldn't be something I'd do.

Sleep in everyday. Invest. Read. Play videogames. Pursue hobbies. Cook delicious food. Post on GameFAQs.

For the most part, world travel is overrated. You can see all of the cool places on public television shows for free, and you don't have to worry about local diseases, language barriers, terrorists, or any other bulls***.

It always boggles my mind how people assume that just because someone has money, they are compelled to spend it. As someone else said, it's typically the poor schlubs who win the lottery and have no idea how to actually manage money who end up blowing though millions and back in the poorhouse.
