Resident evil 7 maybe?

He's right though - I'm sure most people would prefer the input response/smoothness of 60+ FPS to 30. That doesn't mean 30 is unplayable (I've played and enjoyed BoTW on my Wii-U and that exhibits frequent dips below 30, and into the sub 20's in many towns), but 60+ is always preferable.

I'm currently enjoying botw. Best $12 I've spent in recent memory. Great game. I don't even like open worlds usually.

It's important to know what the rules are first, so that, when you decide to break them, you can better judge the effect.

Speaking of which the 1 year exclusivity on VR for PS4 should have expired by now.

Yeah, DOOM was the first game I fired up when I got my new G Sync monitor and damn it's just sooo buttery smooth and fast with high frame rates. Now I'm having a hard time going back to anything on consoles or even 60 fps. o.O

it felt like it has a constant lag or something. Iw as in shocked how much better the pc version was.

That's the difference between 30fps and 60+. It makes a world of difference. It's one of those things that you don't realize is so great until you have it. Then you never want to go back.

I've honestly never been able to tell if people who believe this are genuinely deluded or just saying it as a way to bolster their own self image. I mean, I play games on a variety on consoles and PCs (mine, my mates, and even on the PCs at work, LAN gaming is alive and well after 6:30pm!) and I experience lots of different frame-rates, and yes of course higher is better, but I'd never judge a game adversely for having 30 or less FPS (unless it really was unplayable, but I can't recall the last time I tried to play a game with too low a FPS).

Seriously, are you saying that if a great game came out that was much better than anything else you'd ever played, but it was 'only' 30fps, then you, in your own words, wouldn't play it because "you never want to go back"? I hope not.

One can only hope that a developer would never choose to ruin a game like that.

It wouldn't be 'ruined' at all. If it was, then it follows that any game that can't perform at 31fps or better (such as most console games going back to at least the N64 and Playstation (when 3D really kicked off), and especially PC games during the 3DFX years) would also be ruined, and not worth playing. And yet millions are happy to play such games.

Nobody said that. Nice strawman.

If I’m cooking dinner and I f*** something up, I’ll still eat it rather than going hungry. Doesn’t mean my meal isn’t ruined, that it didn’t have the potential to be a whole lot better, and that I probably wouldn’t choose to eat it unless I had to.

As for the millions happy with 30FPS, plenty of people are happy eating garbage, but that doesn’t mean we all should be.

Graphically? Games like Quantum Break would literally break your PC at Max config. Crysis 3 and obv GTA5. With mods? Witcher 3 is stunning. As is Fallout 4 and Skyrim.

It's not a strawman at all, it's a logical extension of the original (ridiculous) argument. And if I cooked something and really messed it up, then I wouldn't eat it, I'd eat something else. Unless you are so poor that you literally can't afford to eat anything else, then why would you eat something that was ruined so badly that it was "f***ed up" as you put it?

And people are happy with 30fps because it's perfectly playable. But no one wants to eat garbage. But prove me wrong, post a video online of you going through your neighbours' dustbins, and you pulling out rancid leftovers and eating them. According to your (stupid and childish) logic, that's the same as gaming at 30fps.

Go on, do it.
I'm a PC and console gamer - I love good games, regardless of their host system.
