If you game on PC, then there's a 95% chance you have Steam installed on your machine.

Yes.

It's an amazing store to get games for cheap and a useful library that allows you to have most of your games on one place.

It's because of Steam that I stopped being a pirate, actually, specially since it was impossible to get good PC games for a fair price here in Brazil before Steam started accepting Brazilian credit cards.

May not be a "real" HM, but it does look fun.

Did Valve add a subscription service to Steam that nobody knows about unless they subscribe?

Its been good. Heard a friend had issues with it messing up their web browser but I've never had issues. Wasn't too receptive initially but it was forced on me when I bought fallout new vegas.

not sure how that could happen but I havehad it mess up another program. uplay for me. though in this case, it kinda makes sense because I think it changed my controller's driver or whatever with the controller support option.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that, actually.

Even if you are not into Steam, there's a HUGE number of games you can play on your Windows machine. With the entire GOG library, Battle.net, Uplay and even MMORPGs, you can keep yourself busy for years without ever bothering with Steam.

And there's also the pirates, who don't ever have to deal with Steam. ;)

Steam still doesn't have most of the games I play/want to play. But it still has a few so I use it.

Steam sucks. It's a horrible service and the complete opposite of what PC gaming is all about.

Being on PC is about being fluid and de-centralized. Not stuck on any one os like the console experience.

Ironically however, the console services of PSN or Live fair much better than Steam, as at least everyone there is running the same equipment and being regulated in the same fashion, its a crappy albeit even playing field.

Not so on Steam, which is like a junkyard. Any hillbilly peasant with a joke of a PC can log in and start playing. Ruining multi-player games and hacking / lagging their way to victory.

Most developers aware of the lack of quality control on Valve's end are not going to start spending money on policing their games and I could go on and on about the bloatware that some people dare to call games that infest Steam's market.

It's one thing to be a Rodeo Drive business and another to be a flea market. Steam is a flea market which attracts fleas. I would really prefer publishers and developers to release their own games via their own client. I'd even pay a subscription or extra for that. All so I could avoid the masses of filth on Steam.

Is that level of vapid ignorance painful?
