Is using a dedicated GPU for PhsX still a thing?

I think it's still a thing but quite literally useless.

Almost like SLI, although its needed for 4k gaming. Also how much did your 1080 cost? With the whole jacked up prices right now. Mine costed $515.

Newegg had the EVGA FTW for $620. It's not great but I've been looking at demonic prices for 2 weeks and pulled the trigger.
BUT, New Jersey has sales tax so I had to pay an extra $50 then shipping.

$699 in total. My wallet will be hurting for a few weeks.

s***, I paid the exact same price for my 1080ti. Is cryptocurrency causing that much inflation?

If you play Arkham Asylym, it actually recommends a dedicated PhysX card haha.

Those cape physics though...

Its probably the worst ever right now. A 1080Ti is like $1,500.

IIRC, it took a programmer more then a year to get his cape to flow and react to movement/wind correctly.

It was never a thing.

There was a slew of people around 2012 on this forum running 460's and 560's as dedicated Physx cards in games like Borderlands 2 & Mirrors Edge. So you're wrong, it actually was a 'thing'.

It was fairly popular reusing one's old 8800GT as a PhysX card when upgrading the GPU.

It was awesome that one could use a HD 5870 and 8800GT for PhysX in the Batman games, but then Nvidia of course did an Nvidia and blocked that option.

Lets not forget the dreadful climbing ladders.
