Play games with better communities ...
If a pizza has a radius 'Z' and depth 'A' then its Volume = Pi * Z * Z * A

Mute them.

Same here. As soon as someone starts up I immediately mute them and never give it a second thought.

I imagine you've got to be a little off yourself if you don't handle it this way or otherwise ignoring it, I do sometimes find it entertaining and leave their sound on though.

I humiliated someone

Yeah that seems fair to call that toxic.

What would be nice is if you could play games where you didn't get lumped into the same server as the riff-raff.

I haven't played TF2 in a long time but I understand that it has Match making now. The good thing about this (I guess) is that it finds you a server with people on it and you can play the game without a lot of downtime...except when it doesn't work and takes longer to find a game for you than it would have taken you to find a server manually with a server browser.

But back in the day, I found myself on a server with a bunch of jerks, I would just leave and find a better server. I got to the point where I sorta knew the regulars there and even made an attempt at being part of their community with their forums and stuff.

Being able to find a better community within a game beats having to find a better game because of the community.

I miss server browsers as well, I think one of the big reasons I don't play shooters anymore is because they are gone.

I dont play a lot of pvp. Basically just Rocket League and Pubg. Pubg has its fair share of screaming nonsense, but nothing too toxic. Rocket League has a metric ton of sarcasm. Mute function works wonders... tho it rarely gets bad enough for me to use it.

So call it a day or ignore it and push through.

And no, playing games for fun isnt toxic.

It's important to know what the rules are first, so that, when you decide to break them, you can better judge the effect.

Community servers still exist to some degree. I can only stand that game in short bursts these days though. Your average pub makes the worst possible team of slackers in Overwatch look like regular go getters by comparison.
Even I'm not crazy enough to believe that distortion of reality

I'm fine with just muting as long as the don't do anything drastic.
Moderators are disgusting creatures.

I blame that on it going F2P. The quality of games started going down immediately after they announced it went F2P. It was mildly amusing for a while after that, but it didn't feel like the same game so I stopped playing.

In a Free game, nobody cares about much of anything. Heck, if they got banned, there's not even the penalty of having to buy the game over again. Just make another freebie account and off you go!
