Been reading around the forum for the past few days and I'm not surprised the crypto-market has annoyed yet another group of people. And just my luck my Radeon HD 7850 is on the fritz. Graphical issues and sharp frame rate drops crop up when I play anything even remotely demanding followed eventually by a crash. The whole PC needs to be redone, but since I usually stagger my GPU and box build upgrades I figured I could at least get this out of the way. Prices now though are pretty bonkers, so I need help. Should I buy a cheaper card now to tide me over until the prices go down? Or should I bite the bullet, buy a higher end card, and then not have to worry about upgrading for a long, long time in spite of the higher prices?

By cheaper, do you mean like a 1050/ti? I'm unable to find anything above this at retail.

anything that was worth $200 is now $400+ afaik.
Maybe you can find a used GPU from an older series for cheapish.

Anything in particular I should keep my eyes open for? Buying used video cards seems kinda dicey to me.

Should be fine if they weren't used for mining.

In my mining experience, the strain from mining was considerably less than something like PUBG.

Hell, I ran mining code fully overclocked without issues, for a week, and barely broke 60 celsius temps. Whereas when gaming demanding stuff i am always on the 70s up to 80 celsius at 4k.
