Quite a few times i notice my bandwidth is completely hogged. I had to check around, like the windows update or the windows store to find out if its downloading anything.

Is there a feature in windows 10, that lets you know its downloading in the background? Like a download bar or a notification bar to display on the task bar etc?

In command prompt type

netstat

That will show all connections to the network your computer is making.

start>run>resmon

Go to the network tab and sort by "total transfer/sec". Look at the path.

Yes, svchost.exe is an incredibly generic service name built into windows. It could be anything.

Best to use procmon to monitor network traffic so you can see where it's downloading to.

Also, if it's going 2.3MB/sec, you should see disk activity on the Disk tab. See what's in the File column.

Pretty much this. If the computer is on, then it's probably downloading something. If it's not downloading something, it's probably hogging your upload speed to send every microscopic detail it's collected about you to the NSA.
