I've heard they're a "game changer". But between Nvidia charging a $200-$300 premium for Gsync, and AMD not coming out with a worthy upgrade to my GTX970, I'm still stuck waiting for the right time to choose my wagon.
With deeper knowledge and experience, everything becomes more shallow.

That's what I keep hearing but haven't had a chance to test it in person. I think the premium cost is worth it for something that you use for hours on end and potentially years

It's something you don't really feel the need to have until you try it, then you won't want to go back.
It's basically Vsync with almost no input lag, and if you play a game where your fps floats a lot, it won't be that noticeable.

1440p/165Hz G-Sync monitor user here.

Do it, it's so incredibly worth the premium. Sales can knock certain brands down(My Dell SD2417 for example) by a few hundred bucks if you're patient but even then, the price is worth not having to worry about input lag and screen tearing ever again. I've not had single regret since updating to one and I won't be buying another monitor without G-Sync.

It is a game changer. If you are sensitive to frame stutter and screen tearing this is your golden ticket to awesomeness.

SD2417DG

Waiting on it to arrive. For the price it's going for, that monitor is a steal. Getting anything in that range seems to be either unwarranted freesync korean imports on Ebay, nasty VA panels, or a $100 premium for a worse warranty, uncalibrated TN.

Needs some love in the calibrations but once it's there, it's a solid panel. I've had no issues whatsoever.

Go to the nvidia forums and read the posts of the problems with gsync.

The truth is - the idea of gsync came when vsync caused input lag.

I use vsync on every game , and I don't notice any lag at all. And all I have is a 1060.
