I didn't pay any attention to VR since its popularization, since it hadn't interested me. But now that there are a few neat things out for it, I'm curious. If I wanted to try out some VR software for fun, what are the decent to good options around right now? Ideally of the less expensive ones, unless there's a seriously down-to-earth essential reason to get pricier hardware without being an enthusiast.

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. I want to try VR software, but I need to own VR hardware first. So I'm asking what hardware to buy based on my above scenario. I'm not even sure which popular VR hardware is compatible with these games, but I'd rather it not be as expensive as a PS VR.

PS VR is real cheap so if that is too expensive for you you should just wait.

Your decent options on PC are significantly more expensive, because they aren't rubbish.
