Thought I had it set to turn off automatically, apparently not, went to sleep and it was on all night. Any risk of burn out? new monitor so kind of paranoid

Is it a CRT? After 1000 hours you might have a problem. If it's not a CRT, then no.

Got the same exact model. G-sync is very nice. Got it on sale for $350. I don't notice burn in and ya burn in I only noticed happening on CRT's. Only issue is the bezel/case is kind of giving way. Could probably just super glue it, but I'll only do that if it gets worse.

Burn in is super rare on everything now.

What you get is image retention which is temporary but could last months to years if bad enough.

I've seen it repeated here and there that LCDs can get long-term image retention but I've never actually heard of a time when it's happened. If it does happen, it must be really, really, really rare. Lots of businesses and even some home users keep the same thing on their screen for months at a time with no image retention to speak of.

Real burn-in was a CRT thing (and something similar happened on early plasmas, think pre-2006). It was common on screens that would show the same thing for a long time, like arcade machines that didn't have a lot of people playing them. It was actually kinda rad. It looked like this:

I haven't seen it in a very long time, probably more due to the fact that they are cheap as f*** and get replaced faster, but I remember early on I couldn't go a day without seeing an LCD used for business information/advert display purposes with some sort of burn in.

I noticed the monitor comes with a standard 3 year without buying anything more. Because of that I skipped on the extra warranty.
