So I bought two $10 games a week ago and steam just finally put the order through. I didn't have much in my account and I was overdrafted $62 :( feels bad. Worst part is my next check clears tonight at midnight :-/

I don't wanna be "that guy", but if you have less than $20 in your account, I get the feeling buying games from Steam should be relatively low on the priority list...

Also, relevant: The delay on Steam processing orders feels like it's related to the refund system. It MAY not be, but that seems to be around the time it shifted from an instant withdraw. Still, usually the charge at least shows up as a hold until a week or two passes.

Huh? It sounds like this would have happened even if the order occurred on time? Am I missing something?

How the hell does this happen? Whenever I purchase games it's instant access.

His access to the game was instant but steam didn’t charge the bank until a few days later

Ahhhh I see....that sucks. Usually that sort of thing happens whenever I leave tips on my card...notorious for taking ages to finally be taken from my bank account.

I know it's a new concept, but maybe you should actually watch your bank account and balance your checkbook?

Online banking should prevent this type of thing.. But as others have said, if you are that strapped for cash games shouldn't be a priority. Also, maybe get a credit card so you can avoid overdrafts on your actual bank account?

I always have a buffer of cash in my bank account so I don't get overdrawn. If I go below that buffer I rein in the spending the next month until I'm above the buffer again.

Never been overdrawn.
