TC, you cannot build a laptop. Not at all.
The best you're going to be able to do is see if you can get lucky and find a used gaming laptop, because for a good new gaming laptop you're gonna be spending at least a grand.

Perform a google search, say building laptop. I found plenty of links of howto, though it's not going to be easy. You need to find the companies that sell the laptop shell for instance, and the parts.

There are also companies that can do custom builds.

For $500 though, I would say extremely unlikely. More likely I suspect you are looking at a minimum of $1500.
Remember, it's only a game, have fun and enjoy.

The best you could do is build a Gaming PC into a suitcase and keep a UPS in it.

Actually, has anyone ever done something like this?
"I had a classmate who legitimately expected Mario 65 to come out."
"He ate glue."

$500 will get you a sucky laptop.
$500 will get your a desktop at least 2x as good for the same price.

No. You can't build a gaming laptop.
No. If you want a gaming laptop, you better consider sinking in some serious cash, otherwise don't bother.
Now, say my name.
