So my GPU died and I want to get a GTX 1060. Temperatures are a concern as during summer ambient temps reach 95F/35C.

I want something with thermal headroom.

I have it narrowed down to 2 models.

1) EVGA 1060 SC

2) MSI Gaming X 1060

The EVGA one is cheaper, around $270 but it's only a single fan model and I hear mixed things about cooling. Some swear by it, some say it runs hot (70s). I like EVGA and their warranties, but not sure it will keep my card cool enough come summer.

The second model is the MSI gaming X. MSI's customer service arguably isn't as good, but it looks like a better card, despite the higher price ($305). Much larger, has a better heat sink, etc. Also has RGBs that match my case/color scheme.

But Im not sure it's worth the premium and if the EVGA version can meet my needs that might be better, so...opinions? For reference both are 6 GB models.

I prefer MSI for build quality, I have never had a problem with any of their products vs EVGA I have had a couple of bad cards from them. But I can say that EVGA customer support was awesome when that did happen. I can't speak about MSI's cs because I have never needed to use it. Not saying they don't release products that sometimes fail, but I have been fortunate enough to not be in that position with them.

I'd take the EVGA and step up to something better before the 90 window ended.

I got the Gaming X 1060 earlier this year. After about 12 days it caught fire. The replacement however has been fantastic.

The Twin Frozr has generally been solid. EVGA's single fan solution is a little shaky. They're sort of opposite ends of the spectrum

Personally, I'd save a few bucks and go down the middle with a two fan model that isn't the Gaming X.
