With the exception of special items, everything can be unlocked by playing the game. I fail to see how greed plays into this.

You get ~100,000 currency total for doing the base characters individual story modes (~20 minutes total).

You get 80,000 currency total for beating the free story DLC on both difficulties.

Each character costs 100,000.

You get currency for completing the Survival mode with each character *once* per difficulty. Easy is tuned fine. Higher difficultues are as well until you hit the final wave, when there is a sudden massive difficulty spike because Capcom wants you to die, not try the game mode anymore due to the BS, and as such get no reward for that attempt (even if you do 49/50 stages you get 0 currency, need to complete and death is restart entirely) or future attempts. The payout for time and difficulty compared to the onetime easy story payouts are extremely low as well.

The main allure is online. You get 50 currency per win.

It has dailies like most F2Ps do, but the payouts are trash, and again isn't this a AAA game?

Again each character costs 100,000.

If you buy a character pack that includes a character you already bought with ingame currency, you get no discount or virtual currency refund for having already owned that character. Worse value if you own more.

If you buy characters with virtual currency you have no virtual currency for the tens of other "virtual currency or real $" goods available in the shop.

The design intent is that you spend ~$180CDN unlocking all characters and stages. Otherwise it's an abysmal F2P grind to get your AAA game package.

As long as you do not pay more than $20CDN on the base game, you're fine, because that way you're paying an OK price for a starter pack in a F2P. That's how to view it. The current base price is abysmal, because it's priced as though it's another complete SF game.

Fight money is fine:

- You get 80k from completing both dificulties for story mode
- Each level on your character gives 1k FM
- 10k from prologues + it's XP.
- 6k from easy survival + XP.
- Trials give 3k + XP: 6k total. There's trials V1 and V2.
- 16 base characters means 160k from prologues, 96k from easy survival, over 100k from trials.
- Demonstrations give 500fm, there are demonstrations V1 and 2, 16k.

We're not even bringing up weekly challenges (easy 6k+), free FM that Capcom gives away randomly or during tournaments, 50FM per match, other levels you'll gain by playing, other difficulties for survival and doing all of the above for each DLC character you get. As long as you actually play the game, you'll have more than enough for 3 seasons, and even be able to pick up some costumes and stages along the way.
Only by cooking with tin foil can one get something so half-baked.

pick up some costumes

It's like 7 of the ~30. And they're s*** from the story mode.

Plenty of story costumes are good, and I doubt you'll be playing most characters anyway. Go play all survivals you want, most difficulties can be cheesed by a big part of the cast and you'll get a s*** ton of FM. Or use a trainer, don't let me dictate how to live your life.

To grind out currency in a F2P model in a AAA game, gotcha. At least we're in agreement here.

Welcome to 2017, where almost every game has DLC. If it bothers you that much, treat it like every other Street Fighter (and pretty much every other fighting game ever) and pay.

Not every game has F2P models in the AAA game, lol, why do people just go "yeah it's permissible"? I get if it's "in the game" but that doesn't mean you should s*** on someone for detailing it as though you think it's a good thing and I'm an a****** for showing what a squeeze it is.

pay.

Ya not spending $180 for what's $80 worth of content, that's the whole reason they went F2P model inside of it though. People like you end up justifying it because "oh well it's a F2P model!" - in a AAA game! Didn't something just happen with EA because of this? Maybe I dreamed that...

You could just go and buy AE and then S3 for $60 and naturally get FM for the next 3 years without breaking a sweat. You could get the base game for $10 and grind a bit for the DLC like I did.

Or you could play other games and pay for DLC with no way out. Maybe even branch out for GG and pay for balance patches or get left in the dust with your now outdated and dead game. Jump to KI and buy every season, then get the middle finger with timed exclusive characters made out of reused assets being sold individually for $10. Go for Tekken, pay for costumes and modes directly ripped from previous games, get f***ed by a pre-order exclusive character for a few months after launch, then go and pay for DLC anyway.

FM is a non-issue, probably the best system out of any current fighting game, that completely s***s all over the Super Ultra Turbo Arcade Edition trash that was in place since SFII. It's not like USFIV didn't have tons of paid DLC either.
