... but then i'd have to remember what colors go in what spots. I wonder how many people have tried to make there own and ended up with a straight or a rollover cable, and wondered why it never worked.

edit: this may not matter anymore

I haven't had to make a cable in years nor have I even thought of the the wire colors and I still remembered the color sequence when I read your post.

That s*** has a place alongside the Konami code of things I'll never forget.

Most of the time the package of tips has a chart right on it to show you the correct terminations. That being said, as long as both ends are identical color schemes it doesn't really matter what order you put them in.

Most retail stores only make big time profits on a selection of items they sell. Obviously they get something when they sell say an Ipad or something, but they get a much larger return on things like cables.

The markup is very high on cables because people buying that stuff helps keep retail stores afloat.

Retail stores have all kinds of overhead. It's crazy. You guys would never know about them unless you tried selling things & even then, it's chump change compared to what retail stores have to do.

Yep some Saturdays I work we get zero customers, yet the boss has to pay my wages and the electricity and gas bill for running the equipment in the store. The company literally loses money on those days.
