bad news, every steam game has DRM. It's called being on Steam.

I really don't get the hooplah over it, if Steam goes down I'm pretty sure I'll have other things on my plate to worry about than my game collection, such as the world regressing into the dark ages, global thermonuclear war, the zombie apocalypse, etc.

Do you know what else Valve supposedly has in the works? Half Life 3. But we all know that’s not happening.

GOG version. They can never take that away.

It depends on how they did it on Steam.

The GOG version being impossible to take away doesn't depend at all on how they did it on Steam.

As several people continued to outright ignore, not all Steam games have DRM.

Were you confused by what you just quoted? Whether Steam games have DRM or not is irrelevant. The GOG version is impossible to take away. Period. Steam has nothing to do with that.

Microcell can take it away anytime by closing the MS store while steam is not going anywhere for years.

BS. MS didn't even remove delisted games and DLC from download lists of its users.

Steam's DRM would be in the form of CEG (Custom Executable Generation), which basically means my EXE for a given game is different from YOUR EXE for the same game, and that if you tried to use my EXE for your steam account, it wouldn't work.

That's not enough for some publishers so they layer their own s*** on top of that, but that's the developer, not steam doing it.

In any case, just because it's on steam doesn't mean it uses CEG.
