The original Street Fighter IV is on Steam. I remember pre-ordering it on my old account.

It's locked from my region unfortunately.

There's a few that I'd like to play, but not sure if I should buy them for console instead...but I'd rather play them on PC though.

Which games? Some of them have Steam versions now.
Just let it go, alright.

Are you talking about Ultra Street Fighter® IV? Cause I cannot find any Street Fighter IV games on my steam storefront. If so, they have removed GFWL and it is now using steamwork.

For anything that is using GFWL. Buy them, if they are not working, Refund them?

No the first SF4, people are saying they can't get it to run on win10.

Maybe it's missing the xboxlive .dll files, you can find them on the internet but do it at your own risk.

Probably not but I doubted that they will shut down the server as the cost of maintaining a server is not worth anything to their daily operating cost.

as far as i can tell, the only game that doesn't is age of empires online. servers were shutdown july of 2014

They shut it down because they were non-profitable. Not because they were expensive.

and they did exactly that. they shut it down even if it wouldn't impact much of anything to their daily operating cost; it is still a cost and a dollar saved is a dollar earned.

anyways this is prevalent in the gaming industry, and not just in DRM in specifics

@Kano92 Decided to give a quick test out of curiosity. Game ran fine on my machine.

Just need the latest GFWL. The copy bundled with the game is old, it wouldn't even install. Windows 10 said it wasn't compatible. Running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Fall Creator's Update.

Snag GFWL here: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/game-setup/games-for-windows-live-info

Microsoft did make an erroneous claim they were going to shut down GFWL in 2014.
That, of course, failed to happen.

And, being Microsoft, they didn't have a f***ing clue how to communicate. They still haven't told anyone GFWL still works. Microsoft public communication appears to be slightly worse than 2 cups held together with a piece of string. They lost the console war this gen because of their s*** communication ability.
