DumbQuestion posted...
CPU-Z Validation Link for specific details

Have had this desktop for several years. Looking to upgrade. Current Set up is

Monitor: Asus VG248QE
GPU: GTX 970
CPU: I7-4790K
Motherboard:Gigabyte H97
Ram:A-Data 8 GB Ram[4X2]

In terms of priority, what would you say are the most needed things to currently upgrade right now? For GPU I'm thinking of getting a 1070, but I'm not sure if It's needed to upgrade my CPU. Would like to upgrade Monitor, ideally for it to be 144hz

More RAM then save up for a 1070gtx or a 1080.

What exactly are you playing that makes you 'desperate' to upgrade? The 970 should still be plenty powerful for modern games, and your CPU is still solid as well. Did some sad e-peener mock your rig and hurt your feelings or something?

RAM should be priority because I've seen games use 7GB on their own. Next would be the GPU. I doubt you're making use of that 144hz 1080p with a 970.

Another 8 gigs of RAM and you're set. Everything else is still plenty powerful.

As stated above - upgrade to 16GB ram and then get the best GPU your budget allows for.
