I remember using a site that allowed me to convert YouTube videos to MP3 but has been taken down. At one point it was blocked on the Google search engine although accessible via Bing.

like an entire playlist or just individual videos to MP3s?

I know there's tools for the latter (though I don't know if they're still things with google's constant updating: been several months and what I had used developed a bad habit with terrible malware ads even before then). I don't think there's anything that effectively does the former.

alternative: Youtube Red does this innately, I think, if you have subscription money to burn.

There are dozens of sites that do conversions. One or two even do so without spamming popup ad's.

I use JDownloader mostly for other things, but it has no issues downloading Youtube audio.
Why is it that he can hit a 3rd baseman on a frozen rope from 300 feet away, but he can't hit a 12 foot tall catcher from 60 feet 6 inches away?

I've been using the YouTube plug in for Foobar2000 to do this lately.

I heard jdownloader 2 has adware in it so I have been avoiding it for a while

why dont you just search for the mp3 in mind, there are a ton of mp3 search sites.
these mp3's havent been gone through a ton of conversions and typically dont sound like sh**. all you gotta do is scan the file and make sure it isnt carrying anything. works for me.

converting a youtube vid into mp3 just seems super ghetto. the multitude of conversions the original file went through from either AAC or FLAC to MP3 then to MP4 causes a crap ton of degradation to the file... then further loss in quality when you convert it back to mp3.

if you have a nice set of speakers or headphones youre doing yourself a disservice by using youtube converted files.

i wouldnt use youtube converters for nothing more than collecting samples.

I'm pretty sure it's doable with youtube-dl.

I just googled the command and it's probably...

youtube-dl -i --extract-audio --audio-format mp3 "insert-playlist-url-here"
Oh, I don't want to walk that far. Anything that takes more than 12 steps isn't worth doing! Eh? 12? Get it? Steps! Hehehe.- Homer J. Simpson
