Let's say theoretically, the world no longer had access to the internet. How would your life change? Imagine going back to reading books or magazines to get the latest info on PC's/video games. Imagine having demo discs, driver discs, all media on discs. Going back to watching TV and playing all games in offline mode, local multiplayer etc

Personally, I would get really depressed. Internet to me, is a huge essential part of life and wouldn't cope without it. lol

How would it affect you?

People might actually have to look up from their phones/tablets and have some real face-to-face interaction *gasp!*

My life would change quite a bit, mostly because this would mean that I would have to get physical copies of my games, and I HATE that.

Other than that, actually, not much would change. My phone has Internet, but I only use it due to Whatsapp. Without Internet, I would just have to use it as regular phone more often.

And I don't really use the Internet for much, except download games and movies, and chat on some forums to pass the time while I'm at work. My life WOULD change without Internet, but I don't believe it would be better not worse. Just different. |

The internet or Interweb is NEVER going away without a world wide event and even then there is a back up of such things.

If it were controlled like china and North Korea that would suck but it would not be too bad since people will pick up other hobbies.

I WOULD ......

ACTUALLY DO STUFF for once in my life.

On a serious note, there are major pros and cons to having internet and not having it.
Have I justified the purchase?

I read books with my tablet so that idea's out.

Only if you're in an area where you don't have offline maps or the maps are old enough to actually be outdated.

The former likely won't apply to a lot of people, if they take the time to make an offline copy of the local map in the first place, while the latter would probably take a decade or three to really be an issue.

On a serious note, there are major pros and cons to having internet and not having it.

One major con of not having the internet is that we wouldn't have digital distribution of media to provide an opportunity to do away with copyright laws. Another is that not only would we still have DRM, but it would be much harder to get rid of the more obnoxious forms of it because of the significant increase in cost and reduction in speed of distribution of DRM removal/bypass tools.

Before anyone tries to take that as a pro-piracy statement, consider that I view the whole games with DRM thing as being akin to a dog with worms. You might want a dog, but you don't want the parasites that it might have. As soon as practical you will, as should be your right, get rid of those parasites, and end-users should, and should be able to, treat DRM in the same exact fashion.
Logic is the antithesis of faith, else why is it that faith defies logic while logic denies faith?

A whole lot of empty souls is what would happen. I'm convinced it wouldn't be for the better....cause any problems eliminated from this would be replaced by new ones. There's no end to the belief that if everyone lived a certain way life would be better.
Apathy....the epitome of evil or something.
