That you're way too into this.

saying that I'm way too into calling alarmist idiots what they are accomplishes...what, exactly?

Other than being irrelevant bulls***.

You're doing this to make yourself feel good, not for any kind of legitimate reason.

Calling people idiots when they're being idiots is as legitimate a reason as any.

if folks can't distinguish between a personal file and an HTTP request that's their business. Calling it "illegal access and a violation of your right to privacy", however, is being dishonest at best.

in this particular case it's less "a right to privacy" and really more a matter of "How dare the fed keep logs of who accesses their server like respectable IT people do". Spun up by alarmists to sound much worse than it really is because of the judge statement accompanying it and a vague interpretation of what "hacking" actually is.

There's a difference between that and actual personal files. Namely in that one consists of something you give to literally every website you visit.

It is if all you care about is feeling good about yourself, and don't have anything productive to do.

If acting like an idiot on the internet is being productive then the bar has fallen very low indeed.

I swear to God some people here either just want to troll, or think so highly of themselves that they think they'll never be in a bad situation caused by this supposedly because they don't commit crime.

Martin Niemoller cautioned us against this kind of thinking during the Nazi Germany rule, perhaps in an attempt to tell us to stop being so full of ourselves just because other people got hit. Well, it appears mankind are idiots and history continues to prove that we will repeat the same mistakes that will lead to our doom, over and over again.
