With 40+ games including those atrocity Zelda games and Mario Hotel, gun for Mad Dog, Space Ace etc. So hows the console like?

There are definitely a few gems. First thing I recommend is to pick up the three button controller if you haven't already. If you plan on playing the light gun games the Peacemaker gun is light years better than trying to play those games with one of the controllers. Mad Dog 2 is also much better than the first.

The Zelda games are what they are and can be fun to play once you get a handle on the controls. I'd recommend using a FAQ though, It is difficult to figure out what you are supposed to be doing at times and the games are not good enough for me to spend the time figuring them out. Zelda's Adventure is probably the best of the three but the loading between every screen is horrible.

Hotel Mario is surprisingly playable.

My personal favorite game on the system is Zenith, but it was very difficult to score a copy.

The best game that is relatively easy to find is The Apprentice, the best platformer on the system, if you like that of might be worth looking up Christmas Crisis and Christmas Country.

There is no region lock on the system so you can readily play European releases as well. Many games (like Zenith) were never released in the states.

Thanks for the reply! :)
Huh didn't know it was region free. Well that opens some doors.

I've been looking at Burn: Cycle. That looks pretty cool. I am getting the console today so I'm hoping its one of the titles out of the 40+ plus that comes with the console.

Whats this with it being hooked up to the vcr? Is that correct?

Was that on my video?

I use my VCR as a receiver is all.

Also I forgot to ask if you were getting the digital video cartridge as well which you need for certain games (probably already installed in the system you got). If your luck you'll also have a working timer chip too which you need for saving high scores and stuff.

I do have a few CDi related videos on my page if you are interested (with commentary), I have videos for Tetris, Zenith, Christmas Crisis and Whack a Bubble (just go to my YouTube page and search for them if you want).

If you want a really good recommendation for CDi vids though I highly recommend the Half-Blind Gamer:

https://www.youtube.com/user/HalfBlindGamer

He has some really great reviews of CDi titles (mostly under Crap Digging Investigations) as well as some playthroughs, including a great one for Dimo's Quest.

At any rate I have enjoyed my CDi far more than I expected so I hope you do as well, It isn't great as far as systems and great games go, but still fun. I haven't played Burn: Cycle too much but I have heard a lot of good things. My copy also came with a soundtrack which is pretty cool.

You can look at my backloggery to see my collection of CDi games if you want. I'll attempt to answer any questions you might have about any specific games. I'm thinking about doing a montage of my games.

About European versions: Almost all of them have English on them----except Alice in Wonderland, but there is a North American version of that game (was pretty hard to track down though).

Cool thanks again! I will check out that youtube channel. I'm at work now and my wife just informed me that the package arrived so I'm gonna check it out tonight. I have no clue what games are included beside Hotel Mario, Space Ace and the two of the three Zelda games. Here's hoping there's a lot of gems there. All thats certain is I'm getting the console, gun for mad dog and a buuunch of games.

I think I was around 13/14 years old when the CDi was released back then. But I was way too busy playing on my Snes. However I do remember seeing adds for it. Then suddenly the console was gone from the market. Man the 90's were some good times. Lots of competition and experimenting going on, taking risk and trying new stuff. I miss it.

Over the past few years I have found a lot to love in 'forgotten' systems like the CDi, 3DO, Sega CD/32x, Turbo Duo and even the Neo Geo X lol.

I bought the Neo Geo X in dec 2012. I was so hyped for it since I always dreamt of owning a Neo Geo back in the mid 90's but like every other kid back then not many could afford one and only the lucky few got one. Well I was so disappointed in the NGX so I went out and bought a real arcade cabinet with a 4 slot Neo Geo board. That made a HUGE different!

As for the 3DO I was dying to get one since it had Samurai Showdown and the perfect arcade conversion of Super Street Fighter 2. How times have passed...

That's awesome! Thankfully I've been mostly pleased with my NeoGeo X even with it's known problems. I mostly use it as a handheld though.
