So it's the start of season 4. You've recently became the head of the SFV project. You have a great deal of unreleased that is finished and have other material that is continously evolving.
Of course is you want to turn SFV into more of a success.

What would you do?
Would you do as the current SFV team? Or something different?

Is this a serious question?

↑that is the full question

I imagine some people might close the project and start with a new project. Others may try to improve the current situation

How about you?

Some steps for SF5 success.

-Re-release the game on PSN and Steam as "STREET FIGHTER V: ARCADE EDITION" instead of just "STREET FIGHTER V". This version of the game will come with Seasons 1, 2, and 3 already loaded on it. Costs $60. If you registered a CFN account before the change, you will receive a 3,000,000 FM bonus as a reward.
-Release a free-to-play version of the game called "STREET FIGHTER V: RISING EDITION". This version of the game will come with 8 characters, just like the original SF2, all of whom are super-popular with the franchise: Ryu, Chun-Li, Cammy, Ken, Zangief, Guile, Akuma, and Sakura.
-Reworked Fight Money cost algorithm: $1 is now equivalent to 10,000 FM. This means characters are now only $50,000 FM a pop. Stages no longer cost anything and are automatically unlocked from the start. Character colors are no longer unlocked via leveling and are available from the shop by default.
-Survival Mode reworked. Easy difficulty is now 10 stages. Normal difficulty is now 20 stages. Hard difficulty is now 30 stages. Extreme difficulty now operates differently. You must now fight all currently-released characters, always in a set order, at difficulty level 8. Beating Extreme now gives you all unlockable colors for that character at once.
Super Smash Bros. is not a fighting game.

1. Get rid of the stupid Fight Money bulls***
2. Add Dudley, Makoto, Rose, Elena, Guy, Fei Long, Poison, E Honda, C Viper, Oro all for Season 4 and still have Season Pass and release their stage when I release them
3. all colors unlocked and already with the costume
4. Add Ken, Dhalsim, Zangief and Blanka's SF2 stage
5. Fix Alex's hair in Default and get rid of the man bun in Ken's Default
6. add Easter Egg in Default, Battle and Story costumes
7. get rid of the Fighting Chance bulls*** as well, just add those costumes in the shop and let people get it if they want it

Address the multiple issues with the fan base. I'd let them know we do know we fell short on their expectations. I'll let them know that we are listening and that actions we are taking to fix this. I would show them a roadmap with the short-term SF future and that the best is yet to come.

-Season 4 roster schedule
-Revamped FM focused on the characters, costumes and colours.
-FM can be earned playing offline (story, survival, arcade), online (casual, ranked, tournament) or both.
-New extras like SF encyclopedia, galleries, etc (unlocked through FM)
-Stages are free updates
-Stick with ONE monetization scheme, it could be:
a) Charge our game at full price, the rest of the roster can be acquired individually or with ONE season pass.
b) Multiple character passes, but the game is F2P (i.e. Killer Instinct)
c) Everything is acquired with FM, if you don't have the patience to play tons of hours it can be bought with real money.

Just don't use all of them in the same product because no costumer is going to be happy with their purchases going one route and having to use all the rest! (like the game at its current state: purchase the game+purchase character passes+purchase DLC)

Just some ideas.

First thing would be season pass. It really is essential.

After that, I would add more ways to get FM. A small reward (100FM) for completing offline modes like arcade or survival that can be earned up to 10 times a week.
Then a larger reward for entering CPT online events, with bonus FM for how well you do. And maybe double the small FM reward for winning a ranked match.

The FM cuts, while understandable, were too deep and took away the motivation for a lot of people to play. Adding small rewards to keep players active would help the game remain relevant for non-competitive players. And having bigger rewards for players who do want to populate the competitive community will improve the experience for loyal fans who want a bigger pool of opponents online.

you want to turn SFV into more of a success.

Unfortunately that would require a time machine. You would need to not have launched the game as a mess, that way you wouldn't have had the bad word of mouth that killed the game.

Unfortunately you can't go back. What's done is done. You can only learn from your mistakes and not let them happen in the future.

That's the real question. Will Capcom try to compete in the future, or will SF6 also launch incomplete, too small, infested with DLC and aimed at the wrong group of players? I want them to lead again, but they can't do that while they are obsessed with irrelevant esports and simply flooding us with crappy costumes.

Aim for quality right from the beginning, not "bear with us while we get our s*** together, it's gonna get good real soon"
