As proven by the fact this game is still alive and more season passes are well on the way until at least the year 2020, sales numbers are irrelevant in regards to fighting games. The community is the only truly relevant factor, and the community for this game is still alive and well. Many people claiming to hate it still play it, be it because they're actually tsundere for it, only hate on it to shill other games (which is a good way to make people NOT play your game), or because they have no other options (because they failed to shill for their games). If anyone has dropped it, they've already done so in a respectful manner to the people still playing it.

It matters if you want a sequel.

Are they making enough in dlc to justify a sequel? soul calibur director claimed if they dont sell enough copies they wont make a sequel. Despite sf4 selling a huge amount in copies and dlc capcom still didnt want to spend to make sf5 until sony stepped in.
Even if capcom is loaded with money sales will still matter massively.

Capcom is in possibly its worst financial position in its 39 year history. They just closed the Vancouver division responsible for Dead Rising, which will cost them $50 million just to complete. Frankly, if it wasn't for Monster Hunter, I don't think the company would still be around today.

RE7 didn't do too well and barely met its sales target, and bionic commando....? Really?? Wait, are you being sarcastic?

Ono condirmed 2.1 million including AE.

Then he went on to say the game might soon hit 2.4 million. In tbe same way that arcade mode and extra attle were added very soon after release.

That was because of the s*** show of RE6. While 5 was somewhat of a disappointment, all copies of 6 deserved to be burned in a dumpster.
