This normal? Never played online last gen so don't know what it was like there. Also even if I hit "Join" it will try to host, I assume because it can't find any. Will this get better as I progress or something? Would switching to auto-aim help? Currently on free aim dunno if that disqualifies people who auto aim from joining or not.

Sometimes a whole bunch will say "invited" but none ever actually join, most don't even bother to reject either they just sit there on "invited" and only 1-2 people actually join who soon leave again.
Is anyone alive out there?

u can use the quick join jobs app on your phone. that might help. alot of times on ps3 randoms wouldn't join for me as well. best to play with friends and a crew. plus most jobs can be done solo

Free aim is much less popular. Try autoaim.

Trying to join and host specific races, deathmatches etc can be hard.

Your best bet is to use the quick job option on your phone to join a random race, mission etc. You're pretty much guarenteed to be hooked up with at least one other person that way.

Making friends and/ or joining a decent crew helps a lot too. I just signed in and a quick look at my friends list tells me I'm not going to have any trouble getting 4 people together to do missions and races with.

Haven't tried quick job, probably a good idea. Was just trying to do ones I found around the map. Will try the quick thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is issues with the online and matchmaking, it will probably improve and more people will get the game over the holiday season.
Something should go here.

The thing with try to join those jobs is there's literally hundreds of them. So the chances someone else is already hosting one are slim.

Hosting is basically a crap shoot. It invites your friends, your crew, whoevers in your lobby and a small group of random (skill matched) players. Other then that you're relying on other people using quick job and getting in that way.
