What happens if I die to Gehrman in the Hunter's Dream?

Okay, hi. I've recently collected the last umbilical cord piece (so I could fight the Moon Presence) and I've killed Mergo's Wet Nurse. Gehrman is sitting near the tree and everything.

I went out of my way to chalice-dungeon my way to a +10 Kirkhammer (PvE weapon) and a +10 Ludwig's (PvP weapon). I think I'm readily prepared to tank Gehrman at level 120.

Just wanted some clarification, if I die to Gehrman, does the regular "wake up in Yharnam" ending play, and I have to beat the game again? Or if I die, can I face Gehrman again (nightmare fog)?

I don't have a problem with going through the game again; it was fantastic.

Just wanted to be readily prepared
Were you talking to me? Sorry, I was playing bayblades

If you die, you fight him again. If you popped off at least 3 cords, then you get to fight the moon presence after killing him
You only live once so jump in a hole like a boss & never come back!
