This is the topic for Hearthstone discussion.

A new expansion was just announced:
https://playhearthstone.com/en-us/cards?set=descent-of-dragons

First female Hearthstone champion, VKLiooon:
https://www.shacknews.com/article/114768/vkliooon-becomes-first-woman-to-win-hearthstone-world-championship

And here's the hearthstone page from the b8 wikia:
https://board8.fandom.com/wiki/Hearthstone

The wikia page has not been updated in some time. Add yourself to the list if you aren't on it. I'm not really sure how that works.

Just wanted to mention in case it's not clear to anyone (it wasn't clear to me at first either), how the Invoke mechanic works. It's very C'Thun-like, for those that have been around long enough; you play a card with Invoke on it, and it goes toward buffing whatever battlecry your Galakrond has, but it also triggers the hero power of said Galakrond.

So, for the Warlock version, when you play an Invoke card, you'll get a credit towards buffing the battlecry of the Warlock Galakrond (summon 1 random demon) and summon 2 1/1 imps. The priest version adds a (random) priest minion to your hand and iirc, the rogue version adds a lackey to your hand.

Just wanted to throw this out there, as that knowledge tends to help in evaluating the Invoke cards, which on their face value may not look that great, but when taking the hero power that will trigger with it into consideration, it may (or may not) become a markedly better card.

It wasn't apparent to me at first (I may just be dense >_<), so maybe this will help make it clearer to anyone else who didn't glean this knowledge initially.

Does anyone know if you can have multiple sidequests in play at the same time, or more importantly, if you can have a sidequest in play with a regular quest?
When someone is giving you his opinion, you should receive it with deep gratitude even though it is worthless.
Huh? Finger!? What the hell?

That part made sense to me yeah.

However...almost all the invoke cards still look bad to me.

Like...C'Thun cards were good bodies for the card. 2 mana 2/3. 4 mana 4/2 divine shield. etc. They were still vanilla minions, and ultimately most decks don't want vanilla minions. But cost-wise they were ok.

By comparison, the invoke cards tend to be stupid expensive. Like...4 mana 2/2 rush. 3 mana 1/1 gain +1 attack for each other friendly minion. 1 mana spell, give a minion +1 attack.

These cards are really bad if you don't draw Galakrond. And like...sure, the C'Thun cards were also underwhelming if you didn't draw C'Thun, but there's a difference between running a River Crocolisk (Beckoner of Evil), and running a card that wishes it was as good as Magma Rager (Dragonblight Cultist).

I feel like with the hero power involved dragonblight cultist is closer to Microtech Controller than Magma Rager.

Here’s what we know

Rogue: Get a Lackey
Warlock: Summon two 1/1 Imps
Priest: Get a random Priest Minion

I live on, THROUGH THIS SEASHELL!

The class epic ones seem okay.

Warlock Veiled Worshipper is a 4 mana 5/4 draw 3 if you've invoked twice (probably unlikely on turn 4?) Comparable to just your regular vanilla statted minion.

And the Rogue epic Umbral Skulker which is also 4 mana but a 3/3 add three coins to your hand if you've invoked twice (again, unlikely on 4 question mark).

Shield of Galakrond is 5 mana 4/5 Taunt, Invoke. Which is also on par with a vanilla minion.

But, as MC pointed out, most decks aren't that interested in vanilla minions. So, does adding a lackey to hand/putting two 1/1s in play make up for the vanilla stats? Idk. Just from what we've seen I'm thinking the Dragon synergies are stronger comparatively. But I think Galakrond is a mulligan keep, and how soon it's been properly invoked to create a large enough swing turn will determine when it can be played.

I like the concept. It'll be interesting to see how Invoke stacks up against quests/Dragon stuff power-wise; I think the simple fact that quests start in your hand and there's even a possibility that Galakrond can be buried at the bottom of your deck tips the scales considerably in Quests favor. Now, if they print a Galakrond tutor....
