I remember a goofy ass one with Athena and Blackquill during Spirit of Justice I think. I remember not liking that one.

Low-key one of the worst cases in history, though thankfully it was short and trial-only.

Nahyuta really got boring very fast and was a massive entertainment vacuum at times. My least favourite prosecutor (and really the only one I even vaguely dislike), and this case was actually a perfect chance for a break from him and it didn't really even make much sense for him to be back for it.

That would be 6-4. Blatant filler that is only really salvaged by that one guy with multiple personalities

Yes. Just there to keep Athena and Blackquill as characters for future games. Given the events of the full game's ending, Athena will probably get more focus (which is fine). Since the game actually moves via age (Phoenix is around 35-40 or so), what happens to the series when he ages out?

I really like the 3ds games btw, and think they both hold up with the original trilogy

He's not going to. Since they tend to advance by one year with each game, he'll be around for another 20+ games, so at the rate they're going, he won't age out for another 75+ years.

Ah, so they won't have to pull an Ys and just say Adol is jumping around to different adventures in x year in between timelines of each game until doomsday.

The only one that jumped significantly more than a year was AJ, and that seems unlikely to repeat.

Even though people have only been talking about like 3 or 4 cases
Well let me see
1-1 (your ranking)
1-3
2-1 (your ranking)
2-3
3-2
3-3
4-2
4-3
4-4

9 cases out of 18 of the first 4 games were considered "the worst" here in this topic by at least one person
Hell I can even count 4-1 because someone mentioned it sucked because of how Phoenix was out of character

There is also sadly a noticeable lower playrate for the 3DS games
5-4 and 6-4 should have been brought up at least a few times here

I didn't count 1-1 as a bad case! I'm not even sure I'd consider 2-1 a bad case outside of Wellington. It has its own charms. The first day of 4-2 and most of 4-3 are the only parts of the games I dread replaying, but even those cases have things I like!

Also, E1-5's biggest problem isn't necessarily its length. It's that it very clearly hits a climax when you catch the bad guy you've spent the entire case chasing, and then it goes on for another few hours. It overstays its welcome something fierce.

That's what I was referring to. Bringing down Big Bad takes three times as long as it should, which in turn makes it "COME ON ALREADY!" instead of "AWW YEAH, TAKE THAT!"

It's the length of the most important part that makes the case itself way longer than it ever should've been.

I recently replayed the Trilogy on Switch and I don't remember anything being bad in T&T..... But I did have text skipping enabled from the start (every game should have this available in the future) so I skipped anything I found stupid or a waste of time >_>

Mia's forced save in 1-2 is incredibly stupid and kills the case for me, and everything except 2-4 is bad in JFA. 1-1 gets a pass for being the first of the series, and it's so short that even if I didn't like it, it's over before I can get annoyed anyway.

4-3 is still by far the worst of the series.

I mean, E1-5 isn't a super long case by epic case standards. It needed better pacing more than anything else.
