Warning: Significant plot spoilers for the games/series of these characters; if you haven't played them yet and have any intention to, I would say just ask for a replacement(s).

Nathan Drake (Uncharted series)
Drake is a notorious "treasure hunter" (a more flattering term for thief) who specializes in historical artifacts, especially those that confirm the existence of legendary/mythical places/people/events. He loves his work and sometimes puts it before his family and friends, or even puts them in danger because of it. Nevertheless he is deeply devoted to his allies and is frequently forced to confront the morality and consequences of his actions and the blood on his hands. A true chaotic good. He is handsome and charming, and though he fancies himself to be quite the witty comedian, his mouth often gets him in more trouble than it's worth. Throw in a pinch of awkwardness and you've got a very compelling action hero.

Kate Marsh (Life is Strange)
(trigger warning)
Kate is a high school senior at a private art academy. Generous, honest, and caring to a fault, during the events of the game, this devout Catholic is going through a bout of severe depression over a viral video that depicts her making out with a string of guys while drugged at a party. With no one to turn to for support or help, she spirals to rock bottom and eventually climbs to the roof of her dorm where the player has one literal do-or-die chance to talk her off. If she dies, the game continues and the narrative is adjusted to exclude her. The game also saves instantly, meaning hitting the good ol' reset button won't do anything. Gamers have fallen so in love with this character that players have restarted their games just to save her.

Lloyd Irving (Tales of Symphonia)
Lloyd is a student from the village of Iselia whose best friend, Colette, has been sent on a journey to become and angel and save the world of Sylvarant. After being exiled from Iselia, Lloyd catches up with Colette and accompanies her on her journey. Lloyd is dim-witted, rash, oblivious, easily provoked, and a bit jealous, but what he lacks upstairs he more than makes up for in the heart. His bravery, loyalty and compassion are unparalleled and keep his party's spirits up even through their darkest moments, and his often misguided optimism pushes them through the toughest challenges. Not to mention that, like many of fictions biggest idiots, every now and then he has a stroke of brilliance.

Kate Marsh (Life is Strange)

I'd prefer no Life Is Strange characters. Thanks!

Everything else so far looks fine!

Okay my replacement is...

Miles Edgeworth (Ace Attorney series)
When you first meet Edgeworth, he seems like he is going to be the main antagonist for the first game. He's cold, cocky, and prides himself on his winning streak in court. However, at a certain point during the third case, he realizes that Phoenix's client is innocent and starts dismantling his own case in order to prove who the real killer is, because unlike his mentor, he prioritizes actual justice over perfection. In the fourth case, Edgeworth's own dark past is revealed, and with the help of his old friends Phoenix and Larry, removes a huge weight off his shoulders that has haunted him for fifteen years. As the series progresses, Edgeworth's relationship with Phoenix becomes more and more complex as the two work toward the same goal from different angles, and Edgeworth evolves into a hero in his own right.
