Since I've seen quite a few bugs, I figured we should all place it in one topic so it doesn't get too cluttered and will know what to expect until the patch comes out soon.

Let me post a few that we know so far.


{BUG: Quit Game Freeze}
Effect:
When you quit the game to go back to XMB, it may hang. Only thing you can do is hard reboot your PS3.

Cause:
Memory Leak from the looks of it from playing too long. DLC BGM was originally thought was the cause, but was disproven (by myself).

Workaround (via JP boards):
01) Return to Title Screen
02) Let Intro Movie Play
03) Quit game while Intro Movie is Playing

This seems to be working so far, until disproven.


{BUG: Blank Quest Lockout}
Effect:
You will have an Active Quest, but if you access your Quest Log (with no other quest), it will show a blank Quest Slot. You will be soft-locked and only way to get out is to Quit Game.

Cause:
Bag programming with the "true/false" flag triggering properly.

May happen when you pick up a quest or turn in a quest. It will fail to either update:
- that you got that specific quest (hence an "Unknown Quest" gotten)
- or fail to update you've completed that quest (you did complete it but it isn't entirely updated)

Since it knows you have an Active Quest but doesn't know the exact quest (blank slot), it will pretty much soft-lock there.

Solution Fix by LL:
01) Make sure you turn in all quests so only that Unknown Active Quest is the only one left (DO NOT ACCESS THE QUEST LOG)
02) Go to the Quest Board and in that same screen turn in a quest.
03) When you leave the Quest Board, it should say you have 0 Active and 0 Complete hence fixing the problem.

The key is that the game does not update the Active/Complete Count until you leave the Quest Board. Since you turn only one quest, the game see you already have an "Unknown Active Quest" and assuming that is the quest you're turning in (it'll mark from Active to Complete to Finish). Basically an overriding the "Unknown Active Quest"

{BUG: Miruca's Medical Shot Time Card Freeze}
Thanks to Lenne, Coast and Alye for warning me!

Effect:
Miruca's Medical Shot Time Card will cause thefreeze. Must hard reboot.

Cause:
Unknown (probably bad programming).

Workaround:
DO NOT USE Miruca's:
- Variable Strike (it comes with a Medical Shot Time Card)
- Medical Shot skill

{BUG: 0 HP Bug}
Effect:
Enemy unit has 0 HP and still.. alive.
Nothing serious but just funny to see lol.

Cause:
Bad programming obviously

Workaround:
Kill it asap. I didn't stick around to see what happens if it is their turn (might cause a hardcrash due to the 0 hp if the programming isn't there, game will be confused since it should've been dead but it isn't).



Considering how this game was delayed to improve the quality, it is very bad. Even Eschatology wasn't this buggy (actually I don't remember any bugs on the JP version...)

Wow.
I actually did not know about freeze from Miruca's medical short ... and I was using it so regularly as party heal due to its timecard. Guess I was really lucky.

Just an update...

Doesn't work, it pretty much reboot my PS3 automatically meaning there is still a problem.

i tried the proposed solution for quitting the game and it worked for me.

i think it's an inconsistent solution since i tried the night before and it had given me the error beep before auto restarting the xmb...

but yeah. tonight it went by without any errors and sent me to the xmb as normal.

Here's hoping the bugs actually get fixed, unlike that freeze glitch in Disgaea D2 that basically never got addressed (or at least didn't in any sort of timely fashion).

Still, it makes me wonder. Did nobody, like... test that time card? How could nobody have noticed something that always happens whenever you do the Variable Strike with her?

And how did they screw up having enemies die when their HP zeroes out? You'd think that'd pretty much be one of the first things they'd do when making the combat engine.

Or, you know, quit the game. Did they never quit the game?

I wonder if these freezes only happen on certain models and their devkit or whatever was immune to most of the problems, but actual hardware models weren't.

thing is... the problem is consistent only if you directly quit to xmb after playing for long hours..

other than that, it seems to be inconsistent since i was able to use the title screen to go to xmb properly 1ce... but the other time was errored.


and yesterday i used Medical Shot and the time card also triggered but no freeze.

maybe that's also an inconsistent error.

Yea, consistency is the problem, but yet it is still very damaging to a gamer when it is possible hours of gameplay is lost (like my problem with Ar noSurge.. gah).

The Quit Game Freeze, I never had that problem when I first played (and I stream over 5+ hours per day if possible). It (the freeze) happened a day or so later. I tried doing that "Return to Title -> Wait till Movie -> Quit Game" trick, and it worked until it froze while trying to do it.

Now I'm going to try Kensou's suggestion to just "Shut off Ps3" after streaming (not like I'll be doing anything after streaming on my PS3) and see if it works.


The Medical Card was another inconsistent one too. I too was able to use it without any problems until Coast and Lenne warned me about the bug while I was streaming. And lo and behold.. it happened (which I was recording as I had it linked on my first post). Funny part was that to Coast, the "bug" was only suppose to trigger during against "Golem enemy" fights.

Well, no golem enemies here and I got the crash lol.


The purpose of this topic (until it is patched) is to warn players about it that is playing, so they lose hours of gaming (if they forget to save) and accidentally triggers any of these bugs above.


Overall, the game does have a memory leak, as I can see the game does load a little slower or GUI/Loading happening quite a few times hours later while playing. This also leads to a possible new bug which I forgot to mention on my first post:

{BUG: Memory Freeze Bug}
Effect:
- Game freezes when you do Alchemy too much in a row.
- May freeze when trying to go the Save Book (in Atelier)

Cause:
Memory Leak for sure...

Workaround:
SAVE OFTEN, AFTER EVERY Alchemy Production!

Thank god this never happened to me (I hope I don't jinx myself), but I've heard people having this. Lenne was the first to warn me this too.

so if it really is a memory leak issue,
then it has to do with their "garbage disposal"....
the cache cleanup.. the de-allocation of memory..


however, it's not to say they don't already have that in place... because it's not always happening. the fact that it is inconsistent means it's doing its job part of the time......
