The long and short of it is that there are three new areas and I believe a new co-op partner with which you can play the game through with if you have someone over or live with someone who wants to play.

Edit: I should mention that there have been various subtle tweaks to improve gameplay. Also I double checked and there are in fact three new areas not two.
It is in fact possible for an opinion to be incorrect, furthermore some opinions are more valuable than others.
Reason must be a slave to the emotions, no?

I'll probably get it again. I thoroughly enjoyed Guacamelee! on PS3.

SPOILER WARNING

I just got the platinum on PS4 (I have the plat on PS3 as well), and here's everything I can think of off the top of my head.

* New upgradable Intenso Power that rewards you for combos
* New Pollo power that allows you to lay egg bombs in chicken form (awarded after getting 10 silver medals in El Infierno challenges)
* New elite enemies that can teleport away from you
* New 4-armed luchador skeleton with fists you can't dodge
* Moves that can't be dodged now glow pink
* New areas (Canal de las Flores & Pico de Gallo)
* New axalotl fish enemies
* New giant blue aluxes
* New El Trio de la Muerte boss
* Silver coins drop from pinatas and chests; use them to purchase costumes from original DLC
* Intenso upgrade pieces collected from chests
* 3 Intenso upgrades in shop
* El Infierno challenges DLC built-in
* Completing (most of the) El Infierno challenges gives you an orb
* "You feel lighter" chicken form upgrade could previously be used to exploit the final Caverna del Pollo challenge; that doesn't seem possible anymore
* Play as Tostada in single player after playing the first bit of the game
* Health bars above enemy heads
* Three save files
* Different code to unlock Hard Mode
* Shadow Swap ability allows you to switch dimensions without changing which dimension you see (enabled in options menu)
* New areas mean that powers given from Choozo statues are switched up a bit
* Tons of new references to other games (also means less repetition)
* Areas now show correct completion percentages (no more confusing 124% nonsense)
* New and tweaked arenas, plus other minor balances I'm sure I'm missing

I'm sure there's stuff I've forgotten, but it's late here, and most of the big things are covered. :)

The seizure inducing backgrounds have delightfully been severely toned down.

It doesn't have that "create your own character skin" feature the PC version has, right?

I wonder if I should get the Wii U version then. I still have th Gold Edition with the soundtrack on Steam, untouched. However, I generally don't like playing games on my PC and I would like to give more support to third parties on the Wii U.

The Gamepad is pretty cool. Works as a real time map with touch controls.

Normally that'd make me yawn, but in a Metroidvania that's pretty useful.
