And there are 6 different species of bees, right?
Honey Bee Giant Honey Bee Western Honey Bee (Year 2+) Eastern Honey Bee (Year 3+) Mountain Honey Bee (Year 3+) Koschevnikov's Bee (Year 3+)
I'm wondering, is it a good idea to have 1 beehive dedicated to each type of bee? Or to focus only on certain ones/best ones?
And just as a side question, does anyone happen to know each bee's favorite perfume? I eventually got my current bees up to "there's no point in using anymore of this" using random perfumes, but I'd like to use their favorites, just for efficiency's sake. I've only seen Western Honeybee starting in Year 2, and JP wiki indicates the same.
From what I've heard, each bee type produces 2 products, and the products overlap. I'd say try to figure out if there are any products you need more or less of, and build your hives around that. And if you haven't figured out if there's something you need, 1 of each type to be safe.
As for perfume: Take a look at http://tinyurl.com/n6ock3m
It's the google translate of the page on bees. I'm not sure how the translated names match to the bees in the US version, so you'd probably have to figure out which bee is which based on the color/location caught. Alternatively, one of the perfumes (Autumn Twilight in the translated wiki) works for all bees, but not as well as the correct combination of bee to perfume (1.2x instead of 1.5x), and another sounds like it's effectiveness is random, from 0.5x to 2.0x).

So I leave the bees' bee hives alone so that they can go back to them? No to selling them? Thank you guys! I may not have gone where I intended to go. But I've ended up where I needed to be.

(Topic Creator)9 years ago#5 Oh I see, the translated names were... not too helpful.
But, by the locations where the bees are found, and their byproduct/pricing, I can tell which bees are which. Lemme just organize this...
Honey Bee favorite perfume: Rose Seduction Common Byproduct: Honey Rare Byproduct: Polyfloral Honey
Western Honey Bee favorite perfume: Hilltop Sky Common Byproduct: Polyfloral Honey Rare Byproduct: Honey
Eastern Honey Bee favorite perfume: Clearlake Common Byproduct: Honey Rare Byproduct: Royal Jelly
Giant Honey Bee favorite perfume: Spring Crush Common Byproduct: Bee Pollen Rare Byproduct: Comb Honey
Mountain Honey Bee favorite perfume: Forest Whisper Common Byproduct: Royal Jelly Rare Byproduct: Polyfloral Honey
Koschevnikov's Bee favorite perfume: Summer Memories Common Byproduct: Comb Honey Rare Byproduct: Bee Pollen
Anyways, using those perfumes will have 1.5x the quality boost for each of those bee types. Like you said, Autumn Twilight will give 1.2x the boost to all types. And Winter Glow will give between 0.5x ~ 2.0x the effect to all types.
And alright, I'll take your advice on just splitting up the bees for now. I don't have a need for specific types of bee byproducts just yet.
I'll wait until next year to do that, though. Currently Playing: Miitopia, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns

Yeah, the translated names for the bees don't help at all, lol.
Also: Whoops, didn't realize that I wasn't getting the url of the translated bee keeping page, sorry about that.

(Topic Creator)9 years ago#7 That's fine. The links on the left were translated, in the beekeeping page's case.
It's weird how some bees have a more valuable byproduct as a common produce, and a less valuable one as their rare one, lol. Currently Playing: Miitopia, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns

I managed to get the translated bee keeping page as a link, so I changed my original post to point to it now, lol.
And yeah, it's interesting that there are two pairs of bees with reversed rare and common products.

(Topic Creator)9 years ago#9 Thanks, that's convenient.
So it seems, that unless you're far along in years, getting 5star herbs for Western Honey Bee's, Eastern Honey Bee's, and Mountain Honey Bee's favorite perfumes will be a pain.
It might be best to use 5star Autumn Twilight for those three bees, until you can make 4star or higher versions of those herb perfumes.
Well, just for efficiency's sake anyways. Currently Playing: Miitopia, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns

Just remember that bees go away in the Winter, so you will have to restock the hives in the Spring. But they will last all year. You will have to use more perfume to level up their products again.
