Necrium Vial got me thinking, as it seems to be another case of many people underestimating stacked effects prior to release (also see: To My Side, Cinderstorm)...Early days, but Necrium Vial seems fairly decent, even at 5-mana. Typically getting 10/10 in stats, at least.

Anyway, what cards genuinely ARE overcosted?

Dr. Morrigan seems like one to me. How on Earth is that ever going to be good? Should be 5-mana rather than 8, and would still probably not see play in Warlock. Unless we just haven't figured out it's true use or something.

Kidnapper is an oldie but a goodie.

Well, not a goodie, but you know what I mean.

Valeera could be 7 mana. Just compare her to druid.

--If Kidnapper was a 3/5, it's not far from Vilespine, which is a potent staple card and Kidnapper could've had some legit merits for Rogue in a world of Cubelocks everywhere too. So I'd say Kidnapper's bigger issue is really poor statline.

I'd go with Poison Blade and that overcosted Frozen Throne card which got +1/+1 for each thing that died this turn as a Battlecry. Vilespine at least shows how small the margin is between Unplayable and Staple on Kidnapper.

Also, Ironbeak Owl. **** your nerfs, I want my legit counterplay tech back.

Outside of those cube shenanigans, though, "Destroy" is a far more potent effect than "return to hand". There's a good reason why sap is 2 and assassinate is 5.

Eh, the problem with Owl is that it was basically 2 mana "silence a minion and +2 spell damage" for face hunter. In the era where Sludge Belcher was the best taunt by a mile, that was pretty crazy.

Prep and shadowstep are really, really good.

Eh, Vilespine's existence is why assassinate isn't played. Most decks don't need the redundancy.

Sap + a body for 6 is waaaay worse than assassinate + a body for 5.

The latter is true, but Assassinate saw very isolated, if any, play before Vilespine.
