It's gets pretty funny when the Avatar speaks in battle and the party members respond but in cutscenes they somehow understand silent nods and gestures.

Or how certain characters such as the Prone can see and hear but when you are making a bunch of noise near them they don't react. Also, it's pretty funny not allowing you to fit your allies with a mech despite them proven capable of piloting one but maybe they felt like they didn't trust you enough and need you to prove your worth and hone your skills so you wouldn't just hijack a mech and take it for a joyride.

Evidently, you're not the only one as others such as this person drew these parody comics to make fun of these things:

I bet that the only reason why "Cross" has to do so much work is because Vandham wants to promote tanks tops and give them out to everyone, he keeps giving tank tops as a reward for a job well done. It's like "the #1 team of New LA, Team Elma gets all this done and them wearing tank tops helps them out. Try them out and see for yourself!"
Wait for it......wait, for it. Once two other posters get here we'll have ourselves an argument.

I'm pretty sure Vandham is a repressed fashion designer. He hides that trait of his behind all the muscles.
Anyone with a balanced heart may wish upon the Triforce, and his will be granted. Except for you, Hylia. F*** you.

Beta content reveals Vandham was going to be a World Nemesis raid boss, except instead of removing RP lifebars, you were removing layers upon layers of tank tops

I mean, there are characters in the game, including some in our very own party, whose entire purpose is to plant data probes. Then it turns out that nope! As far as the narrative is concerned, Cross is the only one who plants a single probe (with a couple of exceptions in a few of the missions). Why even have a probe-planting branch of BLADE--or at least, why point out there are other characters in that branch, presumably trying to do the same thing you are, and all of them completely and utterly failing? I can look past this and all, and I certainly know the real-life reason is that it's just a stupid video game, but that doesn't make it less jarring to me. Not anymore.

My understanding of this is that a probe planting expedition takes a lot of time and effort to prepare with regular teams, and Elma's team is just so badass they can do 5x more work than anyone else in the same timeframe (I blame Elma for this lol). As the story progresses, I get a feeling Pathfinders are relayed to nearby probe maintenance while Cross plants new ones in more dangerous areas. BLADEs are not infinite either, and it only makes sense to send manpower that you know will be able to come back after the job is done.

Fixed that for you. As the game refers to the team as "Team Elma" (Or "Team Tatsu" if you're one of those people) be it story or sidequests even when the Avatar's (or "Cross" to some people) boss, Team Leader Senpai Elma isn't present.

I know it's supposedly team Elma, but in reality it's you (Cross) that holds the reins. Plus it's still Cross's team, just as much as it is Lin's team. I was not really posting to argue about semantics either.

Not so sure if it "hold the reins" as the Avatar wouldn't be walking or could say the same for a number of people if it wasn't for Elma.

Elma saved your character from its stasis, sure, you may owe a debt to her, sure, but if only people who saved others can be a team leader, then we have a pretty weird pyramid scheme going on here. Also, you're just toying with semantics. This is really not what I was referring to in my first post.

She is the Avatar's retainer and the characters treat her as such. They talk of Elma and some claim the Avatar is just riding Elma's coattails. And the missions that involves her puts her as the lead such as Nagi taking orders from Elma and being trained under her wing.

It's her theme that plays most of the time showing her influence.

At the same time, though, the characters always refer to Cross as BLADE's top troubleshooter who can always be counted on to get things done, even when Elma isn't with you. Cross definitely gets his/her own reputation outside of simply being a member of Elma's team pretty early on.

Yeah, some missions like Frontier Spirit or those affinity missions with H.B. has the Avatar discussing the "climbing of ranks" and stuff. I don't intend to make the Avatar seem like a deadbeat bum like a number of Blades are as Elma went off alone to bring the Avatar into her fold for a reason.
