http://www.gonintendo.com/stories/239792-nintendo-treehouse-member-on-nintendo-being-open-voice-work-loc
Coming from Nintendo's Chris Pranger...
- Nintendo's media policy has recently changed regarding employees being more open about talking about their work
- he is the voice of the first level boss in StarFox Zero
- he is also working on the game
- NOA uses employees as voice actors for fun and cheap work
- Nintendo has a game library where employees can check out games for all systems in order to be well-versed in gaming
- Sakurai kills himself for his games and is very sensitive to fan feedback
- localization costs a ton of money and often the vocal minority of fans who want a game localized isn't a large enough consumer base to justify the localization costs
- seems that Nintendo of Europe took on almost all costs of localization for Xenoblade

So the Xenoblade X characters will be voiced by Nintendo employees in the English version?

Come on. Nintendo isn't cheap enough to not hire actual professional voice actors for their biggest game in the fall.

Well, then again, I didn't think they were cheap enough to make that abortion of a Metroid game either

Lol man, go back to the Wii U boards. You're more at home there.

No way. That dark corner of the internet needs to be carpet bombed. I honestly feel that Nintendo will do a good job with this localization. I like the little 2 minute clip of Elma and Lynlee that they had for us.

I hope that it's just for insignificant nobodies. In other words, that it's just for "additional voice acting". Hiring a programmer to do the voice of a character who only has three lines is fine, but not one who has hundreds of them.
I'm French speaking. 25/Male/Quebec
SSB4 DLC Vote: Lloyd Irving with Scott Menville as the voice actor

Maybe in Nintendo's butt backwards universe localization costs a ton of money. Because 99% of that cost goes towards vast amounts of cocaine and after the drug induced fever dreams 8 months have gone by. What other explanation is there for their in general lunatic practices.

Other companies with far less resources have released games with the same amount of text and talking as XCX in half the amount of time or even less . So I call bs on Nintendo.

I call bs on your post. Yes, localization costs money, to the point that often times we never even saw localized versions. It's becoming more common now, and yeah s company with Nintendo's resources shouldn't be skimping, but they're not with this game anyways. Text? Yeah, maybe, but still those are usually a long process, like up to a year or more. Turnaround with Xenoblade X isn't that bad, at 7 months. With this amount of talking? I seriously think you have no idea what you're talking about.

Usually the games with comparable amount of dialogue being done by companies with far less resources have JP audio only, or dramatically less voice work.

Lin more sounds like Cassandra Lee; I immediately thought of Taiga from Toradora.
