  3. Reporting s*** posters.
There is a difference between constructive criticism, a general complaint, and s*** posting.

Way too often there are people giving opinions about completely subjective ideas, and many games have fallen due to this unust defamation.

I see this way too often and sometimes it becomes apparent when what is being said is not being said in good faith.

At the moment, the reporting parameters do not include this type of moderable offense and I think now is the time to be able to group this offense together as an option to be selected and make it subject to moderation.

To my understanding, s***posting - so long as other rules aren't broken - don't constitute a violation, nor do I think it should. *anti-sign*

All that I am saying is that everything posted is expected to be in good faith.

How exactly can the barometer of good faith be judged? People already have their opinions that moderation is too harsh/lenient already and the line will never satisfy everyone.

It's much easier to not engage and ignore these "s*** posts" that aren't in good faith. There's simply not enough resources as it is to tackle what could in theory be every 5th post being reported.

I never understood why people engage with those that they feel aren't working in good faith. It is true, if you ignore them, they will go away. Or at least prove ineffective since no one will be paying them no mind. Message boards are to be fun and s***posting can be fun/silly for the lighthearted. If it becomes disruptive then you have a potential TOU violation to report but off the cusp comments can be ignored.

Shrewd moderators are the answer to your question. The American system of Justice jumps into it's decision making process by analyzing the details of the appeals and or details of the prosecution.

The analysis of these circumstances determine if their idea suffice to convict.

A lot of moderators do not use the "beyond a reasonable doubt" logic. Some of them in fact use either a guilty until proven innocent, but most do allow doubt to be the judge.

I also have been a victim of moderators using a guilty until proven innocent approach (this was early 2000 under another account).

To answer the second question. According to my personal observations and some feed back from other posters. People feel as if they need to respond to disruptive posts because casual posters believe that if they ignore the s*** poster, that it makes them feel that they are right, and that leaving the s*** post ignored makes the s*** poster feel like they have some forbidden secret that the s*** poster is not saying.

This curiosity is human nature, and the s*** posters are using it as bait.
