I though it would be cool if the site had a weekly game/console whose board has no open threads featured of the home page so it can get some publicity and hopefully newfound interest. I have made some threads on a few of these already:

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/582045-joy-mech-fight

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/916600-wonderswan-color

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/696955-nvidia-shield

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/198277-persona

It's sad when a game or console gets left out in the cold just becuase it's old or something so let's shine the spotlight for a week and see if there's anyone out there that remembers or takes interst in them.

I'm not so sure I see the point of this?

The point to give game and console boards that have been neglected a little attention. Just because some of them are old doesn't mean they should be forgotten.

Considering most such boards would require on-topic discussion, I doubt this would help the boards' activity any. The reasons most boards for consoles or games go inactive are a lack of popularity or just being old as hell. Shining a spotlight on the boards isn't going to change that.

There are literally thousands of game boards which have seen no activity for ages. Do we really have anything to discuss on a 1995 game? Or what about an absolute flop that never garnered any interest because the game was kind of bad? Or what about the worse examples of "video games" that don't have any discussion about them because they don't deserve any? They all have no activity but I don't think they should. And there are plenty of "worthy" games that simply have nothing to be discussed about them.

A better answer would be to raise the amount of time before topics lock (which should be feasible, since hard drives keep growing in size), but IIRC the last topic on it just petered out.
