Thank you for bringing this up, Emulator. I have the problem you describe with sticky topics (such as dead links and youtube videos). In addition, there's always those embarassing grammatical errors that you make only after noticing it after the time or post limit.

it's been shot down many times.

I don’t think it’s been shot down. If anything, the admins have stated it’s something they are considering; it’s just not a priority at the time. What usually happens is a general lack of interest and topic archival.

Hmm... I've never seen that stated (not to say you're wrong).

I admit I made an assumption, as I've seen it mentioned quite a few times, but it wasn't implemented and the topics seemed to go nowhere, so I figured it was dismissed.

No big.

There's nothing wrong if a user corrected his/her mistakes in time.
However, when reported a violation message, they can keep it. Suppose, you reported my post before edit, that message should be stored. Well, this can be part of another suggestion.

Here's another idea of where this could be a good thing @Emulator

For example, on the Nintendo boards, there's typically a weekly topic made indicating that week's games on sale on the eShop. Topics such as these that the main info is constantly changing (in this case, games on sale), the main post could constantly be edited to update this info

I believe minor violations that are edited out are ignored if the post was reported. Major violations are not a mistake.
